Why is Starbucks so expensive? I can understand the prices of specialty blended drinks, but even a cold brew can equal up to $7. I buy it anyway because it tastes so amazing, but why is it so costly? They sell full bottles of coffee at the store for as little as $3.99, which is a much better deal. It is also important to note that all Starbucks products are expensive. The small 13.7 oz frappuccino bottle is $2.50, and Starbucks creamers are as much as $5.99. It could be because Starbucks is so popular but so is Dunkin Donuts and their drinks are way cheaper. With that being said, I do prefer Starbucks because of its variety in flavor and customizations. (Let’s not forget about the sweet cream cold foam). Maybe I need to look into where exactly Starbucks coffee comes from in comparison to other coffee stores. Starbucks may be spending money to get higher quality coffee as well as unique flavorings. I live closer to a Dunkin, which has repetitive flavors that get boring. At Starbucks I can truly customize anything any way I want, and still want to switch it up later. Another thought is that maybe Starbucks is known for being high end which means they need to live by that standard. Most people look at Starbucks and see it as boujee which I do not disagree. The company’s culture may be to hold things to higher standards, thus the sometimes outrageous pricing. It is obvious that people are willing to pay these prices as Starbucks has been a thriving business. In recent events, many are backing the company due to its political and moral beliefs. In any case, it strikes my curiosity as to why Starbucks charges so much and if there are any specific factors such as company culture or the expenses for the products.
